Notwithstanding the fact that the Kerala Master Printers? Association is an affiliate of AIFMP, the National Body of Printers, KMPA has not shied away from expressing its differences with AIFMP on certain issues like the proposed anti-dumping duty on digital offset printing plates. KMPA is currently leading a campaign against the move by TechNova, (the only digital plate manufacturer in India) to force Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) to impose anti-dumping duty on imported digital offset plates. If the duty is imposed, the cost of the imported plates will go up by 25 to 30 percent. KMPA is fighting against TechNova conspiracy to establish a monopoly as the sole supplier of Digital Plates. KMPA delegates have appeared twice before the DGAD in the last two months to explain the stand of the association. Though AIFMP is not taking any initiative against TechNova?s move, arguing for the protection of domestic manufacturer, KMPA is fighting for the thousands of printers who will be affected by the duty.
